WHY MY TRAININGS?
I became involved in EMDR when a colleague in the NHS, John Spector, the first person in the UK to receive training in the USA with Francine Shapiro, the originator of EMDR, invited me to a London training by Francine. I became a facilitator – a specially trained clinician - on the American trainings in the UK. Over time, EMDR UK and Ireland was created and I was, after John Spector, the second President of EMDR UK and Ireland Association. I was also the Membership Secretary for some years as I had administrative staff in the office to deal with that. I worked with another colleague, Richard Mitchell, who became a Trainer for some time before I became a Trainer myself.
Richard made significant contributions to the EMDR Europe Association which now has member companies and is 25 years old. Over the years I became a Senior Trainer. I was pleased to support an EMDR Trained clinician who was working for Moving Minds, the organisation I mentioned earlier, when he left his HR position in the Navy. He subsequently became a Facilitator and Trainer for Moving Minds before leaving to set up his own business.
I also supported another Facilitator to become an EMDR Trainer
My background is as a Clinical Psychologist, trained in psychoanalytic psychotherapy. I worked as an NHS Consultant in north London. During my time in the NHS I also achieved a postgraduate diploma in CBT at Kings College in London. My wide professional background has always stood me in good stead in using EMDR.

When I left the NHS I established the first private organisation in the UK that offered evidence based treatment to people from all backgrounds and origins. Moving Minds Psychological Management and Rehabilitation had a national reach and all referrals were managed by psychological graduates or post-graduates, rather than administrative staff. During the 16 years of Moving Minds’ development I conducted EMDR Trainings nationally. We were the only organisation that offered EMDR treatment at that stage.

Moving Minds was sold just before the COVID-19 pandemic started. I have since then dedicated myself to small group EMDR Trainings, professional consultation and supervision in EMDR for NHS clinicians trained in EMDR, and EMDR treatment.
